Author and Artist talk: Oregon’s Wild Horses  
Oregon's Living Legends author Andi Harmon and artist Michelle Severe discuss their book about the state’s wild horses, the people who adopt them, and tips for looking for horses in the wild. 2 p.m.

Mining Day
Come and experience the life of a High Desert placer miner. Stake a claim, pan for gold and try to strike it rich for only $2. 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

21st Annual High Desert Rendezvous Gala and Auction
The best of the West awaits you. Don your Western gear for dinner, a hosted bar,
live music, dancing and a live and silent auction to benefit the Museum’s educational
programs. 5 pm
Non-members: $350 per couple (includes a Family Membership) and $200 for one
person (includes an Individual Membership).

Bat Talk and Walk

Join biologists from the Deschutes National Forest to learn more about the fascinating bats of Central Oregon. And, outside after sunset, use special acoustic equipment (“bat detectors”) to record bat calls and identify species! 6:30 pm – 9:30 pm

An explanation of gravity, the electromagnetic force, and the strong and weak nuclear forces. But how does “Dark Energy” fit in?

Kids’ Jam with the Bitterbrush Band – Live!
Children can pick from an array of rhythm instruments and play along with the Bitterbrush Band, performing live Americana music, 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.
 

About the Museum
The High Desert Museum is nationally acclaimed for inspiring stewardship of the natural and cultural resources of the High Desert. It offers close-up wildlife encounters, living history performances, Native American and Western art, music, nature trails, tours and classes for all ages. It is on 135 forested acres, five minutes from Bend on South Highway 97. The Museum is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily and admission rates are: adults, $15; seniors (65 plus), $12; ages 5-12, $9; age 4 and younger, free.
