EARTH SCIENCE
Rockin’ Geology
Using the Cascade mountain range as our guide, students will unearth how a variety of igneous rocks are formed through different volcanic processes. Students will simulate their own volcanic eruptions.
What’s The Matter?
Liquid, solid, and gas are the three types of matter that your students will test through inquiry and some messy experimentation. How does matter transform? What is it made out of? Through trial and error, let’s find out together.
Watershed Wildlife
Focusing on the Deschutes Watershed and the unique geology and soils present within the High Desert, students will develop a greater understanding of our watershed ecology using their observational skills.
Meets EARTH SCIENCE benchmarks for K-6th grade.
LIFE SCIENCE
Reptiles
Get up close and personal with these scaled and slimy desert dwellers. Students will use observation and inquiry to classify reptile groups and differentiate them from their amphibians.
Birds of Prey
Hunters of the sky have unique ways of catching, eating, and digesting their prey. We’ll look inside an owl pellet and meet a raptor while your students learn about these winged wonders.
Desert Dwellers
Deserts are filled with life! Students become field biologists and work outside exploring diverse microhabitats to determine how High Desert animals have adapted to the environment.
Creepy Crawlies
Enter the amazing world of insects and arachnids! Students will use the scientific method to classify arthropods and discover more by dissecting crickets and observing live animals.

SOCIAL SCIENCE
Art Through Ancestry
Using precious Native American items from the past as inspiration, your students can learn to create new art pieces from a variety of materials such as paints, plant matter, and animal skins.
Traveling the Applegate Trail
